‘Picture This’ Was A Deep Dive Into Indian Culture: Harry Potter's Hero Fiennes Tiffin

British actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, best known for playing young Tom Riddle in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, says working on his latest film, ‘Picture This’, was a deep dive into Indian culture.

British actor Hero Fiennes Tiffin, best known for playing young Tom Riddle in ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’, says working on his latest film, ‘Picture This’, was a deep dive into Indian culture.

The romantic comedy, also starring Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley, is set against the backdrop of a wedding in a British-Indian family and will premiere on Prime Video on March 6.

Though Hero had some familiarity with Bollywood and Indian traditions through his mother, he admits that starring in ‘Picture This’ gave him a far more immersive experience.

“I think through my mum, I had a fair bit of knowledge about Bollywood and Indian culture. I’ve been to India before, but never quite like this,” he told PTI.

The 27-year-old actor, who is the son of director Martha Fiennes and cinematographer George Tiffin, said filming the wedding scenes was unlike anything he had experienced before.

“When you work on a film, you realise you’re stepping into an environment you’d never be in otherwise. It’s not like visiting a museum—you’re surrounded by the set, the food, the smells, the music, and the people playing their parts. It felt like a real cultural immersion,” he shared.

Directed by Prarthana Mohan and written by Nikita Lalwani, ‘Picture This’ follows Pia (Simone Ashley), a struggling photographer whose life is upended when a prediction tells her that love and career success await in her next five dates. As her sister’s wedding approaches and her family plays matchmaker, her ex Charlie (Hero) reappears, complicating everything.

Hero, also known for his roles in the ‘After’ series, ‘The Woman King’, and ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’, believes rom-coms have universal appeal.

“Men might not admit it, but they love a rom-com. Love and laughter are the pillars of life—you can’t not enjoy them,” he said, revealing that ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ and ‘The Notebook’ rank among his favourites.

As for his message to Indian fans? “Hope you love the film, thank you for watching, and appreciate the support.”
