Obsession Box Office Week 1: Curry Barker Horror Thriller Earns Nearly Rs 20 Crore In India

Obsession earns nearly Rs 20 crore in first week India box office.

Curry Barker’s psychological horror thriller Obsession has completed its first week at the Indian box office on a strong note, emerging as a steady performer among recent releases. The film has managed to build consistent momentum through the week, driven by solid weekend growth and stable weekday collections, indicating sustained audience interest in the genre.

The film opened its theatrical run with ₹1.75 crore net on Friday and saw a healthy rise over the weekend. Collections climbed to ₹2.75 crore on Saturday, followed by ₹3.25 crore on Sunday, reflecting strong word-of-mouth and growing footfalls in cinemas across major centres. This early weekend surge helped establish a positive trend for the rest of the week.

Maintaining its momentum into weekdays, Obsession continued to perform steadily at the box office. The film collected ₹2 crore on Monday, followed by ₹3 crore on Tuesday. Midweek earnings remained consistent, with ₹2.9 crore each on Wednesday and Thursday, showing that audience turnout did not drop sharply after the weekend peak.

By the end of its first week, the film had accumulated a total India net collection of ₹18.55 crore. The consistent performance across seven days has positioned Obsession as a commercially viable title in the horror thriller segment, a genre that has been gradually gaining traction in the Indian market.

On the eighth day, early estimates suggest an additional ₹1.26 crore in live collections, taking the film’s total India net earnings to approximately ₹19.81 crore. Its gross collection has reportedly reached ₹23.58 crore, further strengthening its overall box office standing.

Industry observers note that Obsession’s performance reflects a growing appetite among Indian audiences for psychological horror content, especially when supported by strong narrative execution and positive audience feedback. The film’s steady run will now depend on its ability to maintain weekday traction and withstand upcoming competition at the box office.
