Mammootty’s ‘Bazooka’ Rocks Box Office on Vishu Day

Mammootty’s ‘Bazooka’ Shines at Box Office on Vishu Day

Contrary to initial reports of a lukewarm start, Bazooka, starring Malayalam megastar Mammootty, has surged to impressive box office success, particularly on Vishu Day.

The action thriller, directed by Deeno Dennis, has captivated family audiences with its blend of high-octane action, emotional depth, and mass entertainment, defying earlier mixed reviews.

Opening on April 10, Bazooka grossed ₹3.4 crore in Kerala on day one, with a 48.53% occupancy rate, peaking at 95% in Kochi’s night shows. By day two, it added ₹2.3 crore, but Vishu Day saw a significant spike, driven by holiday crowds.

Posts on X and industry trackers estimate Sunday’s Kerala gross at ₹2.5-3 crore, pushing the four-day total to approximately ₹9-10 crore in the state. Worldwide, the film, bolstered by ₹8.6 crore from overseas markets, is projected to cross ₹20 crore by Monday’s end, a testament to Mammootty’s enduring star power.

Despite competition from Alappuzha Gymkhana and Maranamass, Bazooka’s family-friendly appeal, stylish visuals, and Mammootty’s commanding performance have fueled positive word-of-mouth. Fans on X hailed it as a “complete package,” though some critics noted a simplistic storyline. With a ₹28 crore budget, the film has recovered over 70%, eyeing a strong run.
