Mammootty, Dhanush Mark National Award Wins During OM Shoot Celebration
Actors celebrate National Award achievements on film set.
Veteran actor Mammootty and actor-director Dhanush celebrated their National Film Award achievements on the sets of their upcoming Tamil film OM: Chapter 1 (Udhiram — The Blood Wood). The stars were joined by director Rajkumar Periasamy, editor R. Kalaivanan and the film crew for a small celebration, with pictures from the occasion going viral on social media.
In the shared photographs, Mammootty and Dhanush were seen cutting a cake along with the director and members of the production team. Mammootty posted the pictures on social media and expressed gratitude for the appreciation and wishes they received following their National Award victories. He described the gathering as a small celebration of their achievements while working on the sets of OM.
Mammootty received the National Award for Best Actor for his performance in the Malayalam film Bramayugam. Dhanush was recognised with two honours at the 72nd National Film Awards — his directorial film Raayan won the award for Best Tamil Film, while he received a Special Mention for Best Actor for his performance in Captain Miller. Director Rajkumar Periasamy was honoured with the Best Director award for Amaran, while editor R. Kalaivanan received the Best Editing award for the same film.

Dhanush reflected on his achievements and said that receiving recognition for directing Raayan represented a different milestone in his artistic journey. He noted that while this marked his third National Award as an actor, the honour for his work as a filmmaker held a special significance. The celebrations also received attention from Mammootty’s son, actor Dulquer Salmaan, who shared a humorous message congratulating his father on yet another major achievement.
OM: Chapter 1 (Udhiram — The Blood Wood) is an upcoming Tamil action thriller featuring Dhanush, Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela in key roles. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, the film is inspired by real-life events, though details about its storyline have been kept confidential. Produced by Wunderbar Films and R. Take Studios, the movie features music by Sai Abhyankar and is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16.
