Kartik–Ananya’s Romantic Comedy Gets Christmas Release, Skips New Year’s Eve Slot

The much-anticipated romantic-comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, has been rescheduled for an earlier release on December 25, shifting from its original New Year’s Eve slot of December 31. This strategic move positions the film as a festive Christmas treat, directly competing at the box office with Sriram Raghavan’s intense war-drama Ikkis, setting the stage for a high-stakes holiday showdown between light-hearted romance and gripping patriotism.
Dharma Productions announced the update with a vibrant new poster capturing Kartik and Ananya in a playful, affectionate moment, radiating the film’s upbeat energy. The caption teased, “Love couldn’t wait till the new year, so it’s dropping a little early! Come celebrate Christmas with us on the big screen.” Directed by Sameer Vidwans of Satyaprem Ki Katha fame, the movie promises a blend of humor, emotion, and chemistry, building on the duo’s proven on-screen spark from their 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh alongside Bhumi Pednekar.
Producer Karan Johar has been vocal about his enthusiasm, describing the project as “vibrant, emotional, and a blockbuster entertainer” with “terrific chemistry” between the leads. From the dailies, he noted that Kartik and Ananya “look amazing together,” fueling anticipation for their fresh pairing under Dharma’s banner. Initially announced in December last year with a February 13, 2026, date, the film was later advanced to December 31 before this final Christmas push, reflecting confidence in its holiday appeal.

The December 25 slot opened up after YRF’s spy-action film Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, was postponed to April 17, 2026, creating room for Tu Meri Main Tera to claim the prime festive window. This reshuffle underscores the competitive nature of Bollywood’s release calendar, where timing can make or break a film’s performance, especially during high-traffic periods like Christmas and New Year.
Fresh off the massive success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan continues his box-office dominance, while Ananya Panday, last seen in the gripping thriller CTRL, aims to solidify her romantic-comedy credentials.
