Denis Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Three’ Begins Filming
Chalamet, Zendaya return for epic sequel
Los Angeles, July 9, 2025 – Production has kicked off for Dune: Part Three, the third chapter in Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed sci-fi saga, based on Frank Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune: Messiah. The film, continuing the story of Paul Atreides, is set to hit theaters in December 2026, following the success of Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024), which adapted Herbert’s 1965 classic Dune.
Timothée Chalamet reprises his role as Paul Atreides, with Zendaya returning as Chani. Jason Momoa confirmed his comeback after appearing in the first film, joining Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Javier Bardem. The official Dune X account announced the start of filming with a poetic nod: “On a journey into that land where we walk without footprints.”
The franchise, centered on House Atreides’ battle for the desert planet Arrakis, has captivated audiences with its stunning visuals and intricate storytelling. Posts on X buzz with excitement, with fans speculating about Dune: Messiah’s darker, introspective tone. Villeneuve’s vision continues to elevate Herbert’s universe, promising another cinematic spectacle.
