Vir Das Denies Rumours Kangana Ranaut Injured Him During 'Revolver Rani' Scene
Vir Das denied Kangana Ranaut injury claim, calling it fiction.
Actor and comedian Vir Das has strongly refuted viral claims that he was injured while filming a kissing scene with actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut in the 2014 film Revolver Rani, calling the reports "pure fiction." The clarification came after an old, unverified claim resurfaced on social media and gained traction after being amplified by a journalist, prompting the Emmy-winning comedian to publicly address the speculation and defend his former co-star's professionalism.
The controversy centred on allegations that a kissing sequence between Vir Das and Kangana Ranaut during the filming of Revolver Rani had resulted in the comedian sustaining injuries. As the claim spread online, many social media users revisited the film and discussed the alleged incident as though it were a confirmed event. However, Vir dismissed the story outright, stating that there was no truth to the reports and that Kangana had behaved professionally throughout the production. His response sought to prevent misinformation from continuing to circulate and to ensure that an inaccurate narrative was not accepted as fact.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Vir wrote, "Right. Just so we are clear. This story is pure fiction. Kangana was a complete professional and I still maintain, a truly gifted artist. This is unfair slander to her." He further acknowledged that the two later found themselves on opposing sides of public debates, adding with characteristic humour, "She went on to call me a terrorist a few years later for my comedy but on set... no problems at all." The remark referenced the widely publicised exchange between the two after Vir's comedy special sparked political controversy, but he made it clear that those differences emerged years after they had worked together.

Vir's statement has drawn attention for separating personal or political disagreements from professional conduct. While he and Kangana have publicly disagreed on several issues over the years, the comedian chose to defend her reputation regarding their experience on the film's set. His response underscored the importance of verifying claims before sharing them, particularly when they concern an individual's professional behaviour. By directly addressing the rumour, Vir sought to stop the spread of misinformation and highlighted how old, unverified stories can quickly resurface and gain credibility through social media.
Released in 2014, Revolver Rani featured Kangana Ranaut in the lead role as a fiery politician, with Vir Das playing the male protagonist. Directed by Sai Kabir, the film blended political satire, romance and action, earning mixed reviews from critics upon its release. Although the movie has occasionally resurfaced in public discussions over the years, the latest attention was driven entirely by the viral claim rather than any new development related to the film or its cast.
Vir Das' clarification has largely put the speculation to rest, with many social media users praising him for publicly correcting the record despite his later differences with Kangana Ranaut. His response serves as a reminder that professional experiences should be represented accurately and that viral claims should be treated with caution unless supported by credible evidence. By calling the allegation "pure fiction," Vir reaffirmed that his working relationship with Kangana during Revolver Rani was cordial and professional, leaving little room for the rumour to persist.
