Shah Rukh Khan’s Kids Go Wild Over His First National Award: ‘This Silver Is Gold’
Shah Rukh Khan’s kids celebrate his first National Award win for Best Actor in Jawan.
Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan’s children, Aryan and Suhana, joined a chorus of admirers in celebrating his first-ever National Film Award, a Best Actor honor for his electrifying performance in the 2023 blockbuster Jawan. The siblings took to Instagram on Tuesday evening with a joint post, sharing their pride in a heartfelt tribute that resonated with fans worldwide.
“You always said you never win silver, only lose the gold but This Silver is Gold. Our hearts are so happy seeing you receive the prestigious National Award, congratulations papa we love you,” they wrote, accompanying the message with two candid images of Shah Rukh receiving the award from President Droupadi Murmu at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony in New Delhi.
Shah Rukh shared the Best Actor accolade with Vikrant Massey, recognized for his poignant portrayal in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail. The win marks a pinnacle in Khan’s three-decade career, which has seen him evolve from romantic hero in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to action titan in Jawan, a high-octane thriller that grossed over ₹1,100 crore globally.
Directed by Atlee, Jawan featured Khan in dual roles as Army officer Vikram Rathore and his son Azad, a jailor leading a vigilante mission. The film’s gripping narrative, bolstered by stellar performances from Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone in a special appearance, captivated audiences and critics alike, cementing Khan’s versatility at 59.
The Khan family’s joy was palpable, with Shah Rukh’s wife, Gauri Khan, adding her own tribute on Instagram. “What a journey it’s been @iamsrk. Congratulations on winning the National Award!!! So deserving… it’s a result of your years of hardwork and dedication. Now I’m designing a special mantle for this award,” she wrote, hinting at a custom display for the prestigious silver trophy. Gauri, a renowned interior designer and producer, has been a steadfast partner in Shah Rukh’s cinematic ventures through their production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, which co-produced Jawan.

The 71st National Film Awards, announced in August 2025, celebrated a diverse array of Indian cinema, with Jawan also earning accolades for its technical achievements, including Best Action Direction. Shah Rukh’s win, however, stole the spotlight, given his long-standing influence as a global ambassador of Indian cinema. Despite earlier honors like the Padma Shri in 2005 and international recognitions, this Best Actor award is a first, fulfilling a career-long aspiration for the star who once quipped about “losing the gold” in award races.
Aryan and Suhana, emerging talents in their own right, added a personal touch to the celebrations. Aryan, 27, recently debuted as a director with the Netflix series The Ba*ds of Bollywood, a gritty exploration of the film industry’s underbelly, earning praise for its bold narrative. Suhana, 25, launched her acting career with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies in 2023, also on Netflix, showcasing her as a promising new face in Bollywood. Their joint post reflects not only familial pride but also a generational shift in the Khan legacy, with both siblings carving their own paths in entertainment.
The outpouring of congratulations extended beyond the family, with fans flooding social media with hashtags like #SRKNationalAward and #JawanKing. Industry peers, including Jawan co-star Nayanthara and director Atlee, lauded Shah Rukh’s dedication, with Atlee noting, “His energy on set was unmatched; this award is a testament to his passion.” The ceremony, attended by luminaries like Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, underscored the National Awards’ role in honoring cinematic excellence across India’s diverse film landscape.
For Shah Rukh, the win caps a triumphant phase following a string of 2023 hits, including Pathaan and Dunki, which collectively reaffirmed his box-office dominance after a brief hiatus. As Red Chillies gears up for new projects, including a potential Jawan sequel, the National Award elevates Khan’s stature as both a commercial juggernaut and an artistic force. For Aryan and Suhana, their father’s victory is not just a moment of pride but a beacon for their own creative journeys in an industry their “papa” has long defined.
