Salman Khan’s 'Maatrubhumi' Faces Censor Delay; Makers Seek Clearance

Salman Khan-starrer Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace continues to face delays, with the film reportedly still awaiting screening by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Earlier reports had suggested that the war drama could receive a screening soon, raising expectations that its release plans might move forward. However, the latest reports indicate that there has been no such development yet.

According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the film remains stuck because of its connection to China. The source said there had been no update regarding the CBFC screening despite earlier reports suggesting progress. The makers are reportedly continuing efforts to resolve the issue and are in contact with relevant government officials to find a way forward.

The film’s release timeline is therefore dependent on when the concerns surrounding its certification are resolved. Once the issue is settled, the CBFC is expected to examine the film before it can proceed towards a theatrical release. The process could reportedly take a few days or several weeks, while a longer delay could push the release further into the future.

The makers are hoping to release Maatrubhumi in theatres in 2026 if the current issues are resolved soon. However, the source said there are limited vacant theatrical slots remaining this year, making the release schedule challenging. If the certification-related matter takes longer to resolve, the film could instead be pushed to 2027.

Maatrubhumi was originally announced under the title Battle of Galwan before being renamed earlier this year. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is based on the 2020 India-China conflict in the Galwan Valley. Salman leads the cast, with Chitrangada Singh and Ankur Bhatia also appearing in prominent roles.

For now, there is no confirmed CBFC screening date or theatrical release date for the film. The project’s next major step remains dependent on resolving the issues linked to its China connection and obtaining certification, after which the makers can determine when it can reach cinemas.
