Shah Rukh Khan Praises Arijit Singh, Discusses Finishing Touches on 'King' Song
SRK praises Arijit Singh while discussing the upcoming King song.
Shah Rukh Khan on Tuesday interacted with fans during an Ask Me Anything session on X and revealed that a song from his upcoming film King is awaiting finishing touches from singer Arijit Singh. Responding to a fan who asked him to release a song from the film, the actor said Arijit was working on the final touches and described him as a perfectionist.
Shah Rukh wrote in his reply that he could release the song, but Arijit still had to give it the finishing touches. He added that the singer takes time because of his perfectionist approach. The exchange has added to anticipation around the music of King, particularly as Arijit has previously collaborated with Shah Rukh o several popular tracks.
Arijit had earlier lent his voice to “Zaalima” from Shah Rukh’s 2017 film Raees, besides singing songs for Dilwale. When “Zaalima” was released, Arijit had publicly praised Shah Rukh for his romantic screen presence. Shah Rukh responded to the singer at the time by crediting his singing for bringing out the emotion of love.

King features Shah Rukh alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and Raghav Juyal in pivotal roles. The makers had unveiled the film’s title last year, presenting Shah Rukh in a powerful avatar. The project has generated considerable interest around Shah Ruk’s character, which the actor has described as dark, ruthless and morally grey.
At a fan interaction in Mumbai, Shah Rukh Khan said the character had been written by Siddharth Anand and Sujoy Ghosh and contained elements of darkness and violence. He described the role as different from the inspirational, comic and romantic characters he has played previously, while stressing that the character’s actions should not be taken as something audiences should emulate.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures, King is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24. Meanwhile, Arijit had announced his retirement from playback singing earlier this year, making his reported involvement in the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan project particularly noteworthy for fans awaiting the film’s music.
