Saba Ali Khan Opens Up on Why She Chose to Stay Unmarried

Saba Ali Khan reveals why she never married despite one close call.

Saba Ali Khan, the elder sister of actors Saif Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan, has spoken about why she never married despite being introduced to several potential partners from a young age. During a recent vlog hosted by actor Neha Dhupia and her husband, Angad Bedi, Saba discussed her personal life and the circumstances that shaped her decisions about marriage.

Saba said she had never had a boyfriend and began meeting prospective partners for marriage when she was around 18 or 19. She recalled that her family introduced her to several people, but none of the proposals ultimately resulted in marriage. Her remarks offered a rare glimpse into a part of her life that she has largely kept away from public attention.

She revealed that she came close to marrying someone in Kolkata when she was 19. The person had been introduced to her as a potential match, but the arrangement did not progress as expected. Reflecting on the experience, Saba said she was not truly prepared to make such a major commitment at that stage of her life.

As she grew older, Saba remained open to marriage but said she did not meet anyone she considered genuinely compatible. Her decision was therefore not based on rejecting marriage altogether, but on being unable to find a relationship that felt suitable. She indicated that compatibility and emotional readiness were more important to her than marrying simply because it was expected.

Saba also spoke warmly about her late father, former India cricket captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, describing him as a remarkable person. She suggested that growing up with his example may have influenced the standards she associated with a life partner. However, she clarified that this did not mean she expected to find someone exactly like her father.

The eldest daughter of veteran actor Sharmila Tagore and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saba has generally maintained a more private profile than her siblings. Her comments underline how timing, compatibility and personal readiness shaped her unmarried life. By speaking candidly about the subject, she also challenged the assumption that every person must follow a fixed timeline for relationships and marriage.
