Salman Khan Backs Student Protests, Recalls Salim Khan's Old Anecdote

Actor Salman Khan's recent statement supporting students protesting against the alleged NEET paper leak has sparked widespread discussion online, with many social media users revisiting a humorous anecdote shared by his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, several years ago. Salman described paper leaks as a serious issue and urged that the ongoing student movement remain focused on improving India's education system while avoiding political interference.

The resurfaced anecdote comes from a 2020 episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, which featured Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan alongside Salim Khan. During the programme, Salim jokingly recalled that a man named Ganesh always received a warm welcome whenever he visited their home. He humorously claimed that the special treatment was because Ganesh allegedly brought leaked examination papers for the family. As the audience laughed, Salman clarified in a light-hearted manner that the joke was about him, making it clear that the exchange was part of a comedic conversation on the show.

On Wednesday, Salman shared a detailed message across his social media platforms expressing solidarity with students protesting over the alleged examination irregularities. He said he was saddened that a movement he described as peaceful had turned violent and expressed concern for students and their families who were injured during the July 20 demonstrations. Calling paper leaks a "very serious issue," the actor praised students for peacefully demanding reforms and said their determination reflected a strong commitment to education.

Salman also appealed for the movement to remain centred on educational reform rather than becoming politically driven. Salman Khan joins a growing list of public figures who have voiced support for the student-led movement over the alleged NEET paper leak. Celebrities including Omi Vaidya, Zeenat Aman, Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Abhay Deol, Sonakshi Sinha and Riteish Deshmukh have also spoken in favour of peaceful protests while calling for accountability and reforms in the country's examination system.
