Raja Shivaji Box Office Dips to Rs 73 Lakh on Day 12 Amid Weekday Slump
Raja Shivaji earns Rs 73 lakh on Day 12, with cumulative collections reaching Rs 71.38 crore net.
Raja Shivaji, directed by and starring Riteish Deshmukh, continued its theatrical run at a slow pace on Day 12 as the historical drama witnessed a steady weekday decline at the domestic box office. According to early estimates released on Tuesday, the film earned around Rs 73 lakh across India, taking its total India net collection to approximately Rs 71.38 crore. The film’s India gross collection currently stands at nearly Rs 84.67 crore, reflecting moderate performance in its second week despite a strong opening in Maharashtra.
The film’s Marathi version continued to dominate overall earnings, contributing around Rs 55 lakh from more than 1,000 shows on Day 12. The Hindi-dubbed version added approximately Rs 18 lakh from a similar number of screenings. Trade estimates suggested that occupancy remained relatively low throughout the day, with Marathi screenings reporting stronger audience turnout compared to the Hindi version. The Marathi edition maintained an occupancy rate of around 21 percent, while the Hindi version remained significantly lower at nearly 11 percent across morning and early afternoon shows.
Region-wise trends highlighted Maharashtra as the film’s strongest market, with cities such as Pune, Sangli, Kolhapur, Nashik, and Nagpur continuing to register comparatively stable occupancies. Mumbai, despite hosting the highest number of screenings, recorded moderate audience turnout. In the Hindi belt, Ahmedabad and the National Capital Region emerged as the better-performing centres, although most cities continued to report single-digit occupancy figures. Industry trackers indicated that the film’s evening and night show collections may slightly improve the final Day 12 total once complete data is compiled.

The film had opened strongly during its first weekend, benefitting from positive response among Marathi-speaking audiences and strong interest in the story based on the life of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. On its opening day, the film collected Rs 11.35 crore across more than 6,000 shows nationwide. The Marathi version alone contributed nearly Rs 8 crore on Day 1 with impressive occupancy figures. Strong weekend momentum pushed the collections further, with Saturday bringing in Rs 10.55 crore and Sunday adding Rs 12 crore to the total tally.
However, like several recent historical dramas, the film experienced a predictable slowdown during weekdays. Collections dipped to Rs 5.6 crore on Monday of the first week before gradually declining over the following days. By the end of Week 1, the film had collected Rs 52.65 crore domestically. The second weekend showed signs of recovery, with Friday collections of Rs 3.2 crore improving to Rs 5.6 crore on Saturday and Rs 6.8 crore on Sunday. Despite the weekend boost, the second Monday and Tuesday once again reflected weaker weekday footfalls at theatres.
Raja Shivaji has attracted attention not only for its box office performance but also for its large-scale production, historical setting, and Riteish Deshmukh’s transition into directing a period epic. The film features a blend of action, political drama, and historical storytelling aimed at celebrating the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Trade analysts believe the film’s long-term performance will largely depend on sustained support in Maharashtra and whether positive word-of-mouth can help maintain collections in the coming weeks amid increasing competition from upcoming theatrical releases.
