Madhavan first met Sarita in Kolhapur when he was her teacher, conducting classes in public speaking and communication skills. Sarita, who had accompanied her cousin to the sessions, found Madhavan’s teaching engaging. “We never dated while she was my student,” Madhavan recalled, emphasizing that their romance began only after she had completed the course.
The couple later started dating after Sarita became an air hostess. Madhavan fondly recounted how a dinner invitation from Sarita marked the start of their relationship. Following eight years of courtship, they married in a traditional Tamil ceremony in 1999, laying the foundation for a partnership built on trust and respect.

Madhavan credits mutual respect as a key factor in their enduring marriage. On a podcast, he explained that Sarita has always been treated as an equal partner, not merely the spouse of a celebrity. “I lose no opportunity to make her feel how lucky I am,” he said, highlighting the importance of appreciation and equality in their relationship.
Addressing insecurities early in their marriage, Madhavan shared how they approached issues transparently, including finances, using joint accounts to reinforce trust. This pragmatic approach helped them overcome challenges and foster a strong emotional connection.
The couple welcomed their son Vedaant six years into their marriage. Unlike his father, Vedaant pursued swimming and has achieved international success, including a silver medal at the Asian Age Group Swimming Championship in 2019. The family’s story reflects a balance of personal commitment, professional pursuits, and shared values.
