Preity Zinta Recalls 'Dil Chahta Hai' Expresses Interest In Working With Aamir Khan Again
Preity Zinta recalls Dil Chahta Hai and eyes another collaboration.
Actor Preity Zinta has reflected on the 25th anniversary of Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut Dil Chahta Hai and expressed her interest in working with Aamir Khan again. Preity was unable to attend the anniversary reunion with the cast as she was busy promoting her upcoming film Batwara 1947, which marks her return to the big screen after a long break.
Preity, who played one of the key roles in Dil Chahta Hai alongside Aamir, Akshaye Khanna and Saif Ali Khan, described the film as a memorable part of her career. Speaking during a recent press meet, she joked that Aamir had “divided” the cast by having the reunion coincide with her Batwara 1947 promotional commitments. She added that she would have liked to share memories with the team during the anniversary celebrations.
The actor also expressed her desire to collaborate with Aamir again in the future. Preity said she was looking forward to working with him “again someday in a memorable film”, while recalling the significance of Dil Chahta Hai in her career. She also expressed confidence that Batwara 1947 would become another special project for her.

Released in 2001, Dil Chahta Hai also featured Dimple Kapadia and Sonali Kulkarni and followed the lives of three close friends. Set partly in Goa, the film explored friendship, relationships, personal choices and the changes that come with growing up. Its portrayal of evolving friendships and urban youth helped establish it as a notable film of its generation.
Preity’s upcoming film Batwara 1947 is scheduled for release on August 13 and marks her return to theatrical cinema after several years away. The project follows her 2018 film Bhaiaji Superhit, which also starred Sunny Deol. The new film therefore represents a significant return to the big screen for the actor.
As Dil Chahta Hai completes 25 years, the film continues to remain associated with the careers of its principal cast and director. For Preity, the anniversary has also renewed memories of one of her earlier films while she begins a new phase with Batwara 1947 and remains open to another collaboration with Aamir.
