Bollywood icon Kareena Kapoor began filming her 68th feature film, Daayra, a crime-drama thriller directed by acclaimed filmmaker Meghna Gulzar, on Thursday. The project, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, marks another collaboration with a director known for critically acclaimed films like Talvar, Raazi, Chhapaak, and Sam Bahadur.

Gulzar, equally enthusiastic, posted on Instagram, describing the film as “a journey of blurred and crossed lines.” The official logline bills Daayra as a gripping exploration of crime, punishment, and justice, tackling contemporary societal issues with a focus on the moral complexities of today’s world. The film promises to resonate with audiences by addressing topical and challenging realities, aligning with Gulzar’s signature style of blending storytelling with social commentary.
Kareena, fresh off her 2024 successes in the comedy Crew alongside Tabu and Kriti Sanon and Rohit Shetty’s action-packed Singham Again with Ajay Devgn, continues to diversify her portfolio. Sukumaran, who recently directed and starred in L2: Empuraan and appeared in Sarzameen with Kajol and Ibrahim Ali Khan, brings his versatile talent to the project.
