Kangana Ranaut Identifies As Gen Alpha After Calling Gen Z “Gutter Generation”

Kangana’s Gen Z criticism draws fresh attention to Gen Alpha.

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has declared that she identifies with Gen Alpha after recently criticising sections of Gen Z protesters, whom she had earlier described as the “gutter generation”. In a new Instagram Story, Kangana shared a reel featuring a young girl portraying a Gen Z influencer and praised Gen Alpha for what she described as its direct and “no nonsense” attitude.

On Saturday, Kangana shared the reel on her Instagram Story with the caption, “Gen Alpha roasting Gen Z is pure gold.” She added that she officially identifies as Gen Alpha and described the generation as being focused on getting directly to the point. In another post, she shared a video featuring a child dressed as a soldier and wrote that Gen Alpha was “bleeding tricolour”, further expressing her admiration for the younger generation.

Kangana's latest comments come days after she strongly criticised Gen Z protesters over their language and conduct during protests related to alleged irregularities surrounding the NEET-UG examination. In a series of social media posts, she objected to the language used against political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and described some of the protesters as part of a “generation gutter”. Her remarks attracted attention because of their criticism of an entire generation based on the conduct of some protesters.

However, Kangana subsequently appeared to moderate her position towards Gen Z, referring to the generation as the “strength and assets of our country”. Her latest posts praising Gen Alpha have now revived discussion around her earlier comments and her contrasting views of the two younger generations. The actor-turned-politician has frequently used social media to express strong opinions on political, cultural and social issues.

On the professional front, Kangana was most recently seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, directed by Manoj Tapadia. The film is based on the story of nurses and hospital staff at Mumbai's Cama Hospital who helped save patients during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. While the film received positive reviews from critics, it reportedly had a modest box-office performance.

Kangana is also preparing for her Hollywood debut with the horror drama Blessed Be the Evil, according to Variety. The Lions Movies project is expected to feature her alongside Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone, with Anurag Rudra directing the film. Rudra has also co-written the screenplay with Gatha Tiwary.
