Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga Earns ₹50 Crore Worldwide In 13 Days

Strong audience response drives steady global box office growth.

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s latest release Main Vaapas Aaunga has crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the global box office within 13 days of its theatrical run, driven largely by strong word of mouth and steadily improving audience turnout. The film, which stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari, had a modest opening but has shown consistent growth in collections, particularly in the domestic market.

On Day 13, the film earned ₹2.60 crore net in India across 2,923 shows, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. This pushed its total domestic net collection to ₹32.45 crore, while the India gross reached ₹38.63 crore. Despite an initially slow start, the film has managed to maintain momentum through the second week, with occupancy levels stabilising across several regions.

Internationally, Main Vaapas Aaunga continued to perform steadily, adding ₹0.40 crore on its 13th day in overseas markets. This takes its total overseas gross to ₹13.15 crore. Combined with domestic earnings, the film’s worldwide gross now stands at ₹51.78 crore, marking a significant milestone for a film that relied heavily on positive audience reception rather than an aggressive opening weekend.

Industry observers note that the film’s performance has been bolstered by strong audience engagement on social media platforms, where viewers have widely shared reviews, reactions, and clips. The sustained buzz has helped the film maintain theatre footfall beyond the typical opening-week surge. Several members of the film industry, including Anubhav Sinha, Adivi Sesh, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Anurag Kashyap, have also publicly praised the film, contributing to its visibility.

Actor Sharvari, who plays a key role in the film, expressed gratitude for the audience response in a social media note. She described the emotional impact of seeing viewers connect with the story and thanked audiences for their continued support. Her comments reflected the broader sentiment among the cast, who have highlighted the film’s emotional resonance as a key reason for its sustained performance.

Released on June 12, Main Vaapas Aaunga continues to perform steadily in its second week, with analysts watching closely to see whether it can maintain its momentum in the coming days. The film’s trajectory underscores the growing influence of word-of-mouth marketing in determining box office success in contemporary cinema.
