'I Never Clashed' — Taapsee Pannu's Candid Take on Years of a One-Sided Public Feud

Taapsee said Kangana's sister's remark sparked the perceived rivalry, not anything she herself said.

Actress Taapsee Pannu has addressed the long-rumoured feud with fellow actor and MP Kangana Ranaut, calling it a media-created misunderstanding. In a recent podcast appearance, she clarified that she never clashed with Kangana personally and has never spoken against her publicly. Taapsee recalled being called a “cheap copy” by Kangana’s sister, Rangoli Chandel, but said she harboured no resentment. She emphasised that while outsiders in the industry often get pitted against each other, she remained neutral and professional. The actress suggested that someone might have benefited from the supposed fight, though it never originated from her side.

Taapsee explained that a true fight requires mutual conflict, which she asserts never happened. “You tell me — have I ever said even a single line against her?” she asked, dismissing the notion of rivalry. The actress highlighted that both she and Kangana came from outside the film industry and succeeded without backing or godfathers. She believes the narrative of their feud may have inadvertently benefited other industry insiders or star kids. Taapsee remained firm that her own record shows no animosity toward Kangana.

Currently, Taapsee is promoting her courtroom drama Assi, directed by Anubhav Sinha, in which she stars alongside Kani Kusruti. The film has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for the performances of Taapsee and Kani. Speaking about her work, Taapsee noted that her focus remains on her craft and delivering strong performances. She expressed interest in maintaining positive industry relationships, including the possibility of a cordial friendship with Kangana. Her comments suggest a willingness to move past old misunderstandings.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in the 2025 political thriller Emergency, portraying Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, which failed to make a commercial or critical impact. Kangana is set to appear next in Bharatha Bhagya Vidhata, another political thriller scheduled for release later this year. Despite the lack of direct communication between the two actors, Taapsee’s statements indicate a desire for the media-driven rivalry to be laid to rest. Both actresses continue to focus on their respective projects and career growth.

Taapsee concluded that while rumours of their feud persisted for years, she has no personal grievances toward Kangana. She reiterated that she never initiated or contributed to any conflict. The actress also reflected on how media narratives often exaggerate tensions for public interest. By speaking openly, Taapsee hopes to clarify misconceptions and set the record straight. Her approach underscores professionalism, maturity, and the importance of separating work from sensationalised stories.
