Disha Patani Seeks Layered Roles As She Looks Beyond Her Glamorous Image

Actor Disha Patani, who has completed a decade in Bollywood, is looking to move beyond the glamorous image that has become closely associated with her career. As she begins the next phase of her journey, Disha wants to take on roles where appearance and physicality are secondary to the character and story. She is also interested in exploring a wider range of genres and more demanding parts.

Reflecting on her early years in the industry, Disha recalled her experience in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story as an important learning phase. She said she was discovering how film sets worked, how to face the camera, understand characters and respond to direction. While she initially relied heavily on instinct, the actor said her understanding of the craft has developed over the years and has given her greater confidence.

Disha said she does not want to become complacent about acting or reach a stage where she believes she has mastered everything. Instead, she considers the uncertainty of approaching a new character an important part of the creative process. She believes retaining curiosity is essential to continuing to grow as an actor and sees unfamiliar roles as an opportunity to keep learning.

The actor is particularly interested in characters with greater complexity and contradictions. She wants to explore parts in which glamour is not the central element and where the character itself drives the narrative. Psychological dramas, character-driven thrillers and action films featuring challenging roles are among the areas she hopes to explore as she expands her range.

Disha also wants to work with filmmakers from different creative backgrounds and across languages and genres. Her aim, she said, is not to be defined by a single type of role or an established image. The shift reflects her desire to take greater creative risks as she enters the second decade of her Bollywood career.

On the work front, Disha was last seen in Awarapan 2, opposite Emraan Hashmi. She is also set to make her Hollywood debut with Hollywood Saga - The Portal of Force, which stars Kevin Spacey. The upcoming projects come as Disha looks to broaden her filmography and pursue roles that place greater emphasis on character and performance.
