Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh Step Out Together After Extortion Threat
Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone make first public appearance after security scare.
Days after actor Ranveer Singh received a reported extortion threat via WhatsApp, he and his wife, actress Deepika Padukone, made their first public appearance at an event in Mumbai. The outing was to support Deepika’s father and badminton legend Prakash Padukone during a session titled Beyond Winning: What Sports Cultivate in Children at an international school.
Several photos from the event circulated online, showing Ranveer and Deepika seated in the audience, joined by Deepika’s mother-in-law Anju Bhavnani. In one frame, Deepika was also seen sharing the stage with actress Sonam Kapoor, highlighting the event’s star-studded presence.
The increased security measures followed the WhatsApp threat, in which a sender allegedly demanded several crores of rupees from Ranveer. Mumbai Police confirmed that the matter is being taken seriously and is under investigation, with early reports suggesting possible involvement of individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The threat comes shortly after a separate incident involving a shooting at filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, raising wider concerns about celebrity safety in Mumbai. Police have intensified security around Ranveer and Deepika’s residence while tracing the origin of the message.
The managing committee of the couple’s housing society raised concerns over the deployment of six armed guards and one uniformed police officer in common areas, including the lobby, gym, and children’s play zones, without prior approval. The society has requested verification and clarification to ensure both resident safety and proper protocol compliance.
Despite the security scare, Ranveer and Deepika’s appearance at the event underscored their support for Prakash Padukone and their commitment to participating in public and family engagements, sending a message of resilience and calm to fans and media alike.
