Box Office Battle: Bhoot Bangla Climbs to Rs 47 Crore; Still Behind Horror-Comedy Giants

Bhoot Bangla crosses Rs 10 crore on Day 2; Akshay Kumar film reaches Rs 47.25 crore GBOC.

Akshay Kumar’s latest horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, has continued its steady run at the box office, crossing the ₹10 crore mark on its second Sunday update. The film has shown growth over its opening day performance, indicating a relatively stable audience turnout in its early run.

According to trade reports, Bhoot Bangla collected approximately ₹25.65 crore on Day 2, taking its total domestic gross to around ₹47.25 crore. The film opened with ₹21.60 crore on Day 1, and producers have claimed consistent upward momentum across its first weekend. The movie is currently running across more than 11,000 shows nationwide.

On Sunday afternoon updates, early estimates suggested the film had already crossed the ₹10 crore mark for the day, with overall earnings reaching around ₹11.29 crore by 4 pm. Occupancy reports indicated an average Hindi theatrical occupancy of nearly 29 percent, reflecting moderate audience engagement across major centres.

The ensemble cast of the film includes Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Rajpal Yadav, and the late Asrani, contributing to the film’s nostalgic and comedic appeal. The film blends horror and comedy elements, a genre that has historically performed well in Indian cinema.

Despite its steady performance, Bhoot Bangla continues to trail behind recent blockbuster horror-comedies such as Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Thamma, which recorded significantly higher collections over comparable time frames. Industry comparisons suggest that while the film has opened decently, it still has ground to cover to match top-tier franchise successes.

Meanwhile, competition at the box office remains active, with other films continuing their runs alongside new releases. Trade analysts are now watching the film’s Sunday evening and Monday trends closely, as the crucial third-day performance will determine whether Bhoot Bangla can sustain momentum into its opening week or face a slowdown in collections.
