Bollywood Mourns Hollywood Icon Robert Redford

Bollywood stars honor Robert Redford’s timeless cinematic legacy.

Bollywood luminaries, including Anil Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor Khan, poured out their hearts in tribute to Hollywood legend Robert Redford, who passed away at 89 in his Utah home, as confirmed by his publicist Cindy Berger on Tuesday. The Oscar-winning actor, director, and Sundance Film Festival founder left an indelible mark on global cinema, celebrated for his magnetic presence and storytelling genius.

Redford’s iconic roles in films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting, The Great Gatsby, and All the President’s Men captivated audiences worldwide, while his directorial masterpiece Ordinary People earned him a Best Director Academy Award. His establishment of Sundance revolutionized independent filmmaking, inspiring generations of artists.

Anil Kapoor, calling him “beyond compare,” shared on Instagram Stories, “You’ll live on through your films, artistry, and spirit, Robert. I hoped we’d meet someday, but until the afterlife, thank you for everything!” Priyanka Chopra Jonas posted a striking image of Redford on Instagram, captioned simply, “Icon.” Kareena Kapoor Khan honored him with his own words, “Storytelling is important. Part of human continuity,” adding, “In Power Legend.”

Veteran actor Soni Razdan expressed her sorrow with a poignant photo and a broken-heart emoji. Sonam Kapoor wrote, “Rest in peace, maestro,” while Radhika Apte, Anurag Kashyap, Hansal Mehta, and Imtiaz Ali also paid homage, reflecting on Redford’s profound influence. Ali Fazal penned a poetic tribute: “Some don’t die—they pass to a realm beyond. We’ll breathe Redford’s legacy as long as cinema lives.”
