'Awarapan 2' Nears Rs 170 Crore Despite Steep Post-Weekend Decline

Awarapan 2's worldwide collection nears Rs 170 crore after eight days.

Emraan Hashmi-starrer Awarapan 2 has maintained a steady run at the box office as it enters its second week in theatres. The romantic action drama, directed by Nitin Kakkar, was released on August 14 and has continued to draw audiences after a strong opening. On Day 8, the film earned Rs 5.50 crore nett in India, taking its domestic nett collection to Rs 119 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

The film’s India gross collection currently stands at Rs 141.87 crore, while its overseas performance has added further momentum to the worldwide total. Awarapan 2 earned approximately Rs 1 crore from international markets on Day 8, taking its overseas gross collection to Rs 27.30 crore. With these figures combined, the film’s worldwide gross has reached Rs 169.17 crore, leaving it just short of the Rs 170-crore milestone.

The film recorded an overall India occupancy of 15.19 per cent on its eighth day, with screenings spread across 9,858 shows. While its daily collections have declined from the levels recorded during its opening weekend, the film has continued to post steady numbers in its second week. The performance indicates that the Emraan Hashmi-led sequel has retained a measure of audience interest despite the usual weekday slowdown.

The additional Rs 5.50 crore on Day 8 brought its eight-day domestic nett total to Rs 119 crore.

Directed by Nitin Kakkar, Awarapan 2 is a sequel to the 2007 film Awarapan. The cast includes Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani, Puran Gabbi, Aniruddh Rawal, Shabana Azmi, Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar. Produced by Vishesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner, the film follows Shivam Pandit as he is drawn back into the world of crime while confronting themes of love, sacrifice and redemption.

With its worldwide gross at Rs 169.17 crore after eight days, Awarapan 2 is now within reach of the Rs 170-crore mark. Its continued performance in the second week will determine how quickly it crosses the milestone and how strongly it sustains its theatrical run. For now, the film has maintained a relatively consistent pace after its opening weekend and remains on course to add further to its domestic and international collections.
