Akshay Kumar’s Niece Simar Bhatia to Debut in War Film ‘Ikkis’; Actor Shares Heartfelt Note

Akshay Kumar celebrates niece Simar Bhatia’s Bollywood debut in Sriram Raghavan’s war film Ikkis.

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took to social media to share a proud uncle moment as his niece, Simar Bhatia, gears up for her debut in the upcoming war drama ‘Ikkis’, directed by Sriram Raghavan. Sharing the film’s trailer on Instagram, Akshay wrote, “My little Simi’s not so little anymore... from your living room performances to the big screen in #Ikkis, heart bursting with pride! And Agastya, what screen presence!” He extended his best wishes to Simar, co-star Agastya Nanda, and the entire team for their upcoming release.

The film, set to hit theatres in December 2025, tells the remarkable true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient, who was martyred during the 1971 Indo-Pak war at just 21 years old. The makers describe the film as a tribute to a young soldier whose bravery remains etched in history, encapsulated in the line, “Woh Ikkis Ka Tha, Ikkis Ka Hi Rahega.”

‘Ikkis’ follows Agastya Nanda in the titular role, chronicling Khetarpal’s journey from his early days at the National Defence Academy to the battlefield that made him a national hero. The trailer showcases Nanda’s transformation from an ambitious cadet to a fearless soldier who refuses to abandon his tank even in the face of death. His iconic final words echo through the teaser, symbolizing his unyielding courage.

The ensemble cast includes Dharmendra as Khetarpal’s father and Jaideep Ahlawat as a senior army officer who salutes the young lieutenant’s legacy. Debutante Simar Bhatia features in a pivotal role that adds an emotional dimension to the narrative, hinting at a tender love story intertwined with the wartime drama.

Produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, the movie promises emotional depth and technical brilliance, with Raghavan’s signature storytelling elevating a tale of valor and sacrifice. With its December 2025 release, ‘Ikkis’ is poised to become one of Bollywood’s most anticipated patriotic films, marking the rise of two promising young talents — Simar Bhatia and Agastya Nanda — under the guidance of some of Indian cinema’s finest actors.
