Ayushmann Khurrana Sets New Career High With 'Thamma', Now Turns ‘Prem’ For Barjatya’s Next
Ayushmann Khurrana’s vampire film breaks records as he gears up for Sooraj Barjatya’s next.
Ayushmann Khurrana has declared his latest release, *Thamma*, the “biggest film” of his career after it delivered the strongest opening weekend of his filmography. Speaking to ANI, the actor expressed gratitude for the audience’s validation, stating, “Validation by the public is the biggest validation… For me, this is the biggest opening of my career and hopefully my biggest film as well.”
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik under Maddock Films, *Thamma* marks the fifth chapter in the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, following *Stree*, *Roohi*, *Bhediya*, and *Munjya*. Ayushmann stars opposite Rashmika Mandanna, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. The actor revealed that the script’s bold departure from his signature “guy-next-door” persona—transforming into a vampire with superhero traits—attracted him to the project. “I am a big fan of this universe,” he added, calling the film’s success “a cherry on top.”
Looking ahead, Ayushmann confirmed that shooting for Sooraj Barjatya’s next family entertainer begins in four days, where he will essay the iconic character of Prem. “It is like a dream for me… There is something new in Sooraj ji’s story, and it is a good thing. A film like this hasn’t been released for many years,” he shared. Additionally, a yet-untitled collaboration with Yash Raj Films is in the pipeline, described by the actor as “a very interesting and new story.”
