Actor Celina Jaitly Approaches Court Claiming She Escaped to India With Nothing
Celina Jaitly alleges domestic abuse and financial control, seeking compensation after fleeing to India for safety.
Former Bollywood actor Celina Jaitly has filed a domestic violence case against her Austrian husband, hotelier Peter Haag, accusing him of cruelty, coercion, financial manipulation, and preventing her from pursuing her film career, her lawyer revealed on Tuesday.
According to Niharika Karanjawala of Karanjawala & Co., who is representing the actor in Mumbai court, Jaitly was forced to “practically escape and run to India with nothing” earlier this year, leaving behind her three minor sons in Austria out of fear that Haag could accuse her of kidnapping—a move that could have permanently damaged her custody rights. The couple, married since 2011, have twin boys, Winston and Viraaj (born 2012), and a younger son, Arthur (born 2017). Haag has not yet publicly responded to the allegations.
The application, filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, seeks ₹50 crore in compensation for “unrealized potential profits” from the acting career Jaitly was allegedly forced to abandon after marriage, along with ₹10 lakh in monthly maintenance. Karanjawala stated that Haag systematically blocked Jaitly from accepting film offers despite her flourishing at the time of their wedding and exerted complete financial control, leaving her without independent resources.

In her first public statement since filing the case, Jaitly posted an emotional note on social media describing herself as fighting “the strongest, most turbulent storm” of her life alone, without parents (both deceased), her brother (who passed away in 2020), her children, or the support of the man who once promised to stand by her. The matter is now before a Mumbai metropolitan magistrate, with the court yet to issue notice to Peter Haag.
