Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt Visit Deols to Pay Respects After Dharmendra’s Death

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visit the Deols to offer condolences after Dharmendra’s passing.

Bollywood power couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt visited the Deol family residence on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, to pay their respects following the death of veteran actor Dharmendra, who passed away at his Mumbai home the previous day at the age of 89 due to age-related illnesses. The actors, captured by paparazzi looking somber and emotional, were among a wave of industry stars extending condolences to Dharmendra's sons Sunny and Bobby Deol at their father's bungalow. Earlier that afternoon, Karisma Kapoor and her husband, Saif Ali Khan, had also arrived at the same location, joining the outpouring of grief in the wake of the icon's sudden passing, which came just weeks after his discharge from Breach Candy Hospital following respiratory complications.

Alia Bhatt, who shared screen space with Dharmendra in the 2023 romantic comedy Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, penned a poignant tribute on Instagram, calling him "a legend who lit up every frame and every heart" and adding, "You will be missed, Dharam Ji." Her words echoed sentiments from across Bollywood, where Dharmendra—affectionately known as the "He-Man" for his rugged charisma in over 300 films—was mourned as a pillar of Indian cinema. The visit underscored the tight-knit nature of the industry, with Ranbir and Alia, both in their early 40s and navigating their own rising stardom, bridging generations in tribute to a figure whose easygoing machismo defined eras from the black-and-white romances of the 1960s to the blockbuster action of the 1970s and '80s.

Dharmendra's final days were marked by health struggles, including a ventilator stint in early November after admission for breathing difficulties, though he had been recovering at home until his condition deteriorated overnight on November 23. His cremation at Mumbai's Pawan Hans Crematorium on Monday drew a constellation of stars, including Amitabh Bachchan—his eternal Sholay co-star as Jai to Dharmendra's Veeru—Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, who navigated throngs of fans and heavy security to bid farewell. Dharmendra's wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, were visibly distraught as they collected his ashes, while grandson Karan Deol was seen in an emotional moment at the site, highlighting the profound family impact of the loss.

Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol in a Punjab village in 1935, the actor built a Rs 335-crore empire over six decades, starring in timeless hits like Sholay (1975), Dharam Veer (1977), and Life in a... Metro (2007), while also venturing into politics as a Bharatiya Janata Party MP. He leaves behind six children from two marriages—to first wife Prakash Kaur and Hema Malini—including actors Sunny, Bobby, and Esha Deol. Dharmendra's final film, the war drama Ikkis opposite Agastya Nanda, is slated for a December 25 release, ensuring his legacy endures on screen. Tributes from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who called him a "phenomenal actor," to global fans reflect the void left by a man whose charm and humility transcended borders, marking the end of an irreplaceable era in Bollywood.
