Academy Confirms Conan O’Brien As Oscars 2027 Host At Dolby Theatre Ceremony

Conan O’Brien returns as Oscars 2027 host.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that comedian and television host Conan O’Brien will return as host of the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, marking his third consecutive year leading the ceremony. The event is scheduled to take place on March 14, 2027, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, May 12, by Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Lynette Howell Taylor. In their statement, they praised O’Brien and the returning production team for their continued work on the Oscars, highlighting the success of recent ceremonies and their ability to balance entertainment with celebration of global cinema.

Alongside O’Brien, executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will also return for a fourth consecutive year, while Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney are set to continue as producers, with Sweeney also serving as writer. The Academy said the team has consistently delivered engaging and well-received broadcasts over the past two years.

Industry partners also welcomed the decision. Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich praised O’Brien’s comedic style and said his presence has helped make the Oscars one of the most entertaining televised events. He noted that the show’s recent success has been driven by the host’s distinctive humour and timing.

O’Brien, 63, was widely praised for his performance as Oscars host earlier this year, with critics and audiences responding positively to his mix of satire and industry-focused humour. Following that show, Disney Television executive Rob Mills even joked that O’Brien had become the “Oscars host for life,” reflecting the strong reception to his role.

Best known for his long career in late-night television, including shows such as Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and Conan, O’Brien currently hosts the podcast Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend and the travel series Conan O’Brien Must Go, continuing his presence across multiple media platforms.
