Yamaha’s New Tricity 300 Scooter Protects Riders with Airbag and Enhanced Stability
Yamaha launches Tricity 300, world’s first scooter with airbag, advanced braking, stability features, and modern digital tech.
Yamaha has unveiled the Tricity 300, the world’s first scooter equipped with an airbag, marking a significant step forward in two-wheeler safety. The three-wheeled scooter, designed for enhanced balance and stability, integrates the airbag system in its front apron, developed in collaboration with automotive safety specialist Autoliv.
The airbag deploys instantly in the event of a frontal collision, cushioning the rider and reducing forward momentum. Unlike cars, the system is designed specifically for two-wheelers, protecting riders even without seatbelts. Yamaha has tested the system extensively through simulations and real-world crash scenarios, and buyers can choose between variants with or without the airbag.
The 2026 Tricity 300 also features a refreshed design, including sharper front panels, LED lighting, and a split-style tail lamp. New colour options such as Milky White, Zen Green, and Power Grey enhance its modern, sporty look. The scooter’s braking performance is upgraded with a Brake Control system using IMU data and a Unified Braking System, which balances braking between the front and rear wheels. Traction control further improves grip and rider confidence.

The scooter comes with a 4.2-inch colour TFT display paired with a 2.8-inch LCD screen, built-in Garmin navigation, and smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s MyRide app. Additional features include keyless start, generous storage space, a Standing Assist System, foot-operated brake, and Yamaha’s leaning multi-wheel system, which allows both front wheels to tilt together for better cornering stability.
Powering the Tricity 300 is a 292cc engine producing 28 PS and 28.9 Nm of torque, paired with a V-belt automatic gearbox, delivering a claimed mileage of 30.3 kmpl. A new catalytic converter ensures compliance with the latest emission norms.
The Yamaha Tricity 300 is set to go on sale in Europe in 2026, with options for standard and airbag-equipped variants. Currently, Yamaha has no plans to launch the scooter in India.
