Range Rover GT Previewed as Brand's First Electric Fastback Grand Tourer

Range Rover has previewed the Range Rover GT, the brand's first all-electric fastback grand tourer and its first entirely new global nameplate since the launch of the Velar in 2017. The upcoming model represents a significant shift in the company's product strategy, moving beyond its traditional SUV lineup with a sleeker, road-focused design while retaining the luxury, comfort, and off-road capability associated with the Range Rover badge. The GT is expected to become the fifth global model in the Range Rover family.

Unlike the brand's conventional upright SUVs, the Range Rover GT adopts a fastback silhouette with coupe-inspired proportions designed for long-distance touring. Despite its lower stance and more aerodynamic profile, the company says the vehicle will continue to deliver the all-terrain capability expected from a Range Rover.

The GT will be built on Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) new EMA (Electrified Modular Architecture) platform and will be manufactured at the company's Halewood facility in the United Kingdom alongside internal combustion engine and hybrid vehicles.

Range Rover has also revealed the first look at the GT's cabin, which follows a minimalist design philosophy. The dashboard features a cleaner layout with a single central touchscreen complemented by a separate digital driver display, replacing the traditional instrument cluster.

Hidden air vents stretch across the dashboard, while woven textile materials discreetly integrate the audio speakers to create a more refined interior. The company has also placed particular emphasis on rear-seat comfort, claiming the GT will offer class-leading legroom to enhance its grand touring credentials.

The Range Rover GT will debut exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle (BEV), with a hybrid variant planned for a later stage of its lifecycle. The company has not yet disclosed technical specifications such as battery capacity, driving range, charging performance, or power output. However, Range Rover says the GT is being positioned to combine electric performance, luxury, long-distance comfort, and the brand's signature capability in a package that offers a more car-like driving experience than its existing SUV portfolio.
