Mercedes-Benz and Audi Hike India Prices Again, Citing Forex Volatility and Input Costs

Mercedes-Benz raises India car prices again, citing forex and rising input costs.

German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has announced a price increase of up to 2 per cent across its vehicle lineup in India, effective from April 2026. The company attributed the revision to rising input costs and fluctuations in foreign exchange rates that have increased manufacturing and operational expenses. This marks the second price hike by the automaker in the country this year, following a similar 2 per cent increase implemented in January 2026.

According to the company, the revised prices will vary depending on the model, with increases ranging from approximately ₹89,000 to ₹4.84 lakh. Currently, the entry-level model in the Indian market is the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which starts at around ₹44.45 lakh. At the top end of the lineup is the high-performance Mercedes-AMG G63, priced from about ₹3.67 crore. The upcoming price adjustment will therefore affect buyers across the brand’s entire model range.

Several popular models in the Indian portfolio are expected to see revised pricing, including the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC and Mercedes-Benz GLE. Electric vehicles in the brand’s EQ lineup, including the Mercedes-Benz EQS and Mercedes-Benz EQB, will also be impacted by the price revision.

The announcement follows a similar move by another German luxury carmaker, Audi, which has also confirmed a 2 per cent increase in prices across its entire model range in India starting April 1, 2026. Industry observers say such revisions are becoming common as automakers attempt to offset rising production costs and currency volatility while maintaining profitability in the competitive luxury vehicle market.
