Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift Inches Closer To India Launch With Key Updates

Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift inches closer to India with key updates.

The facelifted version of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is edging closer to its India debut, with testing already underway and multiple reports indicating a launch in the coming weeks or months of 2026. The updated electric crossover is expected to arrive in Q2 2026, as Hyundai looks to keep its flagship EV competitive in a rapidly evolving premium segment.

One of the most significant upgrades is under the skin, with the facelift likely to feature a larger 84kWh battery pack, replacing the current 72.6kWh unit. This change is expected to substantially improve driving range—potentially up to 570–700km (WLTP claimed) depending on configuration—while also enabling faster charging capabilities, including 10–80% top-ups using high-speed DC chargers.

On the design front, changes are expected to be evolutionary rather than radical. Spy shots and global updates suggest revised front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheels, and a slightly tweaked rear spoiler, helping the model retain its distinctive look while appearing fresher. The overall silhouette and signature parametric pixel lighting are likely to remain unchanged.

Inside the cabin, Hyundai is expected to introduce enhanced technology and usability upgrades, including improved connected car features, expanded ADAS capabilities, and the addition of wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Reports also indicate a more user-friendly interface and possible ergonomic tweaks, addressing feedback from the current model.

Performance updates could include both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with power outputs ranging from a standard single-motor setup to more powerful dual-motor variants. These enhancements are aimed at broadening the car’s appeal across buyers seeking either efficiency or performance in the premium EV space.

With pricing expected to rise slightly over the current model’s ₹46 lakh (ex-showroom) tag, the facelifted Ioniq 5 will continue to compete with rivals like the Kia EV6 and BMW iX1 LWB. As Hyundai prepares for the official launch, the updates suggest a more refined, longer-range, and tech-forward EV, reinforcing its position in India’s growing electric vehicle market.
