Hyundai i20 Gets Cheaper Starting Price for 2026 in India

Hyundai i20 2026 launched in India with lower starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh ex-showroom.

Hyundai Motor India has refreshed the 2026 i20 lineup with aggressive price cuts across base variants, starting at an unbeatable Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This strategic reduction—without altering powertrains, features, or design—positions the i20 as the value king in the premium hatchback segment against rivals like Maruti Baleno (Rs 6.70 lakh start), Tata Altroz facelift (Rs 6.65 lakh), and Toyota Glanza. The move coincides with festive season demand and a competitive market where Altroz added ADAS in its May 2025 update.

Revised Pricing Breakdown

The entry Era trim now lists at Rs 5.99 lakh (down from Rs 6.04 lakh), offering six airbags, 10.25-inch digital cluster, front/rear skid plates, body-coloured accents, dual Type-C ports, and telescopic steering—rare at this price. Magna Executive follows at Rs 6.74 lakh (previously Rs 6.87 lakh), adding TPMS, auto headlamps, keyless entry, power ORVMs, steering audio controls, and shark-fin antenna for urban convenience.

Higher Magna jumps to Rs 6.99 lakh (was Rs 7.12 lakh), bundling electric sunroof, LED DRLs, rear AC vents, and front armrest storage. Top-end variants like Sportz (Rs 8.70 lakh) and Asta (Rs 10.50 lakh) remain unchanged, preserving premium appeal with wireless charging, 10-speaker Bose audio, and ventilated seats.

Feature Highlights Across Trims

Even base models shine: Era's 6-speed manual or iMT clutchless setup ensures smooth city drives, complemented by rear parking sensors/camera and cruise control from Magna up. Mid-variants introduce wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, push-button start, and projector headlamps. Safety suite includes ESC, hill-hold, and ABS+EBD standard everywhere, earning 3-star Global NCAP (adult/child).

The unchanged 1.2L Kappa petrol (83PS/113Nm) delivers 20-21 kmpl ARAI efficiency, ideal for India's congested roads. No turbo or CNG yet, but Hyundai hints at 2026 hybrid variants amid BS7 norms. i20's sunroof-at-Magna and audio upgrades outpace Baleno's base spec, while undercutting Altroz's safety premium.

This pricing refresh boosts accessibility for first-time buyers, with deliveries starting immediately at 1,200+ Hyundai outlets. Expect zero-depreciation insurance bundles and loyalty discounts to sweeten deals further.
