BMW i7 Crosses 1,000 Sales Mark in India, Strengthening Luxury EV Leadership
BMW i7 electric sedan sales surpass 1,000 units in India since launch.
BMW India has marked a pivotal achievement by delivering over 1,000 units of its flagship BMW i7 electric sedan since its launch, solidifying the brand's dominance in the luxury EV segment. Priced from Rs 2.05 crore (ex-showroom), this all-electric model tops BMW's Indian lineup, blending cutting-edge technology with opulent design. It appeals to affluent buyers prioritizing zero-emission performance without sacrificing the hallmarks of German engineering—effortless power, serene cabins, and advanced driver aids. Amid rising EV adoption, the i7's success underscores shifting preferences toward sustainable luxury.
Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO of BMW Group India, hailed the milestone: "The BMW i7 is not merely a luxury sedan—it's a bold declaration of 'Forwardism.' Crossing 1,000 units reflects its resonance with customers seeking avant-garde design, electrifying performance, and uncompromised luxury." He added, "It redefines modern mobility, strengthening our leadership in India's luxury EV space as the pinnacle for those shaping the future." This surge aligns with BMW's aggressive electrification goals, targeting 50% EV sales globally by 2030.
Powered by BMW's fifth-generation eDrive technology, the i7 excels in dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups. The eDrive50 variant delivers 449 hp and 650 Nm torque, sprinting 0-100 kmph in 5.5 seconds with a WLTP range of 603 km. The xDrive60 steps up to 536 hp and 745 Nm for 4.7-second acceleration and 625 km range. A 105.7 kWh battery supports 195 kW DC fast-charging (10-80% in 34 minutes), while adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering ensure composure on India's diverse roads.

The i7's exterior boasts a polarizing illuminated kidney grille, slim LED headlights, and 21-22-inch aerodynamic wheels on a 3,106 mm wheelbase for limo-like presence. Inside, a 14.9-inch curved touchscreen pairs with a 12.3-inch digital cluster, running iDrive 8.5 with AI voice control. The rear executive lounge shines with zero-gravity seats offering massage, heating, ventilation, and a 31-inch 8K rear theatre screen with Netflix, YouTube, and Bowers & Wilkins audio. Crystal controls and sustainable Merino leather elevate the sensory experience.
This milestone bolsters BMW's EV portfolio—including iX, i4, and i5—as India’s luxury EV market grows 150% YoY, fueled by incentives like FAME-III and state subsidies. Competitors like Mercedes EQS and Audi e-tron GT trail in volume, but the i7's chauffeur-friendly features capture business elites. BMW plans localized production and more chargers, eyeing 25% EV mix in India by 2025, positioning the i7 as a benchmark for luxury electrification.
