Honda ZR-V Launched In India With Strong-Hybrid Petrol Engine

Honda has launched the ZR-V SUV in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹48 lakh, making it the flagship model in the company's domestic lineup. The premium SUV is being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) from Japan and is available in a single fully loaded variant, targeting buyers in the premium mid-size SUV segment.

The Honda ZR-V is powered exclusively by a strong-hybrid petrol powertrain. It combines a 2.0-litre four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle direct-injection petrol engine with two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors, delivering a combined output of 184 hp and 315 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through an e-CVT transmission. Honda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 7.9 seconds, achieve a top speed of 172 kmph and return a claimed fuel efficiency of 22.8 kmpl.

In terms of design, the ZR-V adopts a sleek crossover-inspired appearance. The front fascia features slim LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running lights, a vertically slatted grille and sculpted bumpers with functional air vents. The side profile includes 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and body-coloured wheel arch cladding, while the rear is equipped with clear-lens LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler, dual exhaust outlets and distinctive ZR-V and e:HEV badging. The SUV is offered in Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Platinum White Pearl colour options.

The cabin features an all-black interior with soft-touch materials and a honeycomb-pattern dashboard design. A freestanding 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system is paired with physical climate control buttons, while the centre console houses controls for drive modes, transmission functions and the electronic parking brake. Leatherette upholstery with contrast stitching and multiple storage compartments add to the premium feel.

Honda has equipped the ZR-V with a comprehensive list of features, including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats with memory for the driver, wireless smartphone charging, ambient lighting and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate. However, it does not offer a panoramic sunroof or ventilated, heated and massaging front seats.

Safety features include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, eight airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, traction control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. With its hybrid-only powertrain, premium equipment list and imported positioning, the Honda ZR-V aims to strengthen the brand's presence in India's premium SUV market.
