Ferrari To Offer Manual Transmission With Limited-Edition 12Cilindri
Ferrari revives manual gearbox for a special edition.
Ferrari has reintroduced a manual transmission with the launch of the limited-edition 12Cilindri Manuale, marking the Italian luxury carmaker's first manual-equipped model in 14 years. The company's previous manual transmission model was the Ferrari California roadster, making the new V12-powered grand tourer a significant addition for driving enthusiasts. Ferrari will produce only 1,499 units of the model worldwide, with each carrying a starting price of 590,000 euros (approximately ₹6.42 crore).
The Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale is powered by the same 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine used in the standard 12Cilindri. The engine produces 830 horsepower and 678 Nm of peak torque, while revving up to 9,500 rpm. Instead of a conventional manual gearbox, Ferrari has introduced its innovative "Manuale By-Wire" system, which allows the existing eight-speed dual-clutch transmission to replicate the operation and feel of a traditional six-speed manual. The system uses electronic sensors to interpret inputs from the clutch pedal and gated gear lever, delivering an engaging manual driving experience without a physical clutch linkage.
In terms of performance, the limited-edition model accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds, matching the performance of the standard automatic version. Ferrari says the car retains its top speed of 340 kmph because the transmission can switch between manual and automatic modes. While manual mode offers greater driver involvement, automatic mode enables the dual-clutch transmission to manage gear shifts efficiently during everyday driving, combining performance with convenience.

The exterior design remains largely faithful to the standard 12Cilindri but includes several exclusive styling elements. Manuale badges on the front fenders, silver-finished laser-etched Ferrari logos, and pinstripe accents inspired by the iconic Ferrari 365 GTB4 help distinguish the model. Buyers can also opt for forged five-spoke alloy wheels in multiple finishes, while signature design elements such as the long bonnet, carbon-fibre body panels, active rear winglets, quad exhausts, and aerodynamic rear diffuser have been retained.
Inside the cabin, the most noticeable change is the redesigned centre console featuring a classic-style aluminium manual gear lever, available in silver or black finishes. The seats are offered in both comfort and racing specifications, with exclusive upholstery patterns highlighting the Manuale edition. Ferrari has also retained the triple-screen digital dashboard from the standard model, combining modern technology with a traditional driving experience. The limited-edition 12Cilindri Manuale reflects Ferrari's effort to blend advanced engineering with the analogue driving engagement that has long been cherished by enthusiasts.
