Yamaha R3 70th Anniversary Edition Unveiled for 2026 Global Launch with Fresh New Livery

Yamaha’s iconic R3 supersport gets a special 70th anniversary edition, set to roll out worldwide in 2026.

Yamaha has revealed its special 70th anniversary edition livery for its popular supersport range, including the R125, R3, R7, and R9 models, scheduled for global availability throughout 2026. This limited-edition paint scheme celebrates the company’s seven decades of motorcycle craftsmanship and racing heritage. These models have already sported the commemorative design on racetracks, but next year, they will be accessible to riders worldwide at retail outlets.

Among the four models, the Yamaha R3 is the only one currently sold in the Indian market. While its arrival in India in the new livery is uncertain due to modest local demand, enthusiasts can expect a visually striking update featuring a dual-tone red and white paintjob. The R3’s body panels, including the fairings, tank, and tail section, wear this classic color scheme enhanced with intricate 3D graphics and subtle black shadow effects. The front prominently displays the ‘R3’ logo paired with the ‘YAMAHA’ branding atop the headlamp.

Mechanically, the R3 remains unchanged from its standard iteration. It is powered by a 321cc twin-cylinder engine that generates 42 PS and 29.4 Nm of torque, transmitted to the rear wheel through a six-speed gearbox. The bike continues to ride on 17-inch wheels equipped with upside-down front forks and a mono-shock rear suspension setup. Additional features include a slipper clutch with assist and an all-digital TFT display, supporting a sporty yet user-friendly riding experience.

In India, the Yamaha R3 is priced at an ex-showroom cost of Rs 3.39 lakh, positioned against competitors such as the KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Aprilia RS 457, and Kawasaki Ninja 500. The 70th anniversary edition is expected to strengthen Yamaha’s appeal among supersport segment riders globally, reaffirming its legacy while blending classic aesthetics with modern performance.
