Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition: India’s First 160cc With Ride-By-Wire

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition debuts with new tech.

Hero MotoCorp has expanded its popular Xtreme 160R lineup with the introduction of the all-new 4V Combat Edition, which has now been listed on the company’s official website. While the mechanical underpinnings remain unchanged, the new variant gets a distinctive visual identity, advanced rider-assist tech, and segment-first features, marking a major step forward for the brand in the competitive 160cc motorcycle segment.

The most noticeable update comes in the form of its aggressive design and new colour theme. The Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition flaunts a striking grey-and-yellow paint scheme inspired by other models in Hero’s Combat lineup, including the Xoom 110 and Karizma XMR Combat Editions. It also receives a reworked headlight reminiscent of the larger Xtreme 250R model, complementing the sporty stance that appeals to younger enthusiasts.

In terms of technology, the Combat Edition leads its class by introducing ride-by-wire functionality—making it the first 160cc motorcycle in India to offer this feature. The advanced system allows the inclusion of cruise control and three riding modes: Rain, Road, and Sport. These can be accessed through a new full-colour LCD instrument cluster shared with the Xtreme 250R, offering improved information display and user interface.

Powering the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Combat Edition is the same 163.2cc, air-oil-cooled, four-valve engine that produces 16.66 hp at 8,500 rpm and 14.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox and tuned for a balance of performance and efficiency, ideal for both city commuting and highway rides. Despite retaining the core hardware, the added tech enhancements push the motorcycle into a more premium bracket.

Hero MotoCorp has yet to announce the price of the Combat Edition, but given its feature-packed nature, it is expected to command a slight premium over the standard Xtreme 160R 4V. With these updates, the brand aims to strengthen its foothold in the mid-capacity roadster category while appealing to riders seeking advanced performance options without stepping into higher displacement models.
