VinFast Files Design Patent For Rasad Electric Maxi-Scooter In India

VinFast has filed a design patent in India for the Rasad electric maxi-scooter, adding another model to its expanding two-wheeler portfolio as the Vietnamese EV manufacturer prepares to strengthen its presence in the Indian market. The Rasad was first unveiled globally in early 2026.

The patent filing follows similar registrations for the VinFast Viper scooter and a motorcycle believed to be based on the Sulad concept. The growing number of patented models suggests that VinFast is exploring multiple segments of India's rapidly expanding electric two-wheeler market.

The Rasad is positioned as a performance-focused maxi-scooter combining everyday practicality with a sportier design. Patent images show an angular and muscular body, chunky tyres and an underbone-style chassis. A stepped seat and tall windscreen further contribute to its maxi-scooter character and touring-oriented appeal.

The scooter is equipped with disc brakes at both ends, a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. These components are expected to provide improved stability and handling. In terms of its positioning, the Rasad could compete with performance-oriented scooters such as the Yamaha Aerox and Honda ADV160 if launched in India.

VinFast has not yet officially disclosed the Rasad's complete technical specifications. However, reports from Vietnamese media indicate that the electric scooter could use a centrally mounted motor producing around 7.1kW of peak power. The setup is reportedly expected to deliver a claimed top speed of approximately 100 kmph.

The patent does not confirm when VinFast will launch the Rasad in India or whether the production version will retain the same specifications as the patented design. However, the company's registrations for multiple electric two-wheelers indicate that it is preparing a broader product strategy for the Indian market, potentially covering scooters as well as motorcycles.
