Vespa 946 Horse Joins Lunar Collection: Numbered Edition With Bay Finish and Premium Details

Vespa reveals 946 Horse limited-edition scooter with bay brown body, gold detailing, handcrafted leather, and equestrian-inspired accessories.

Italian two-wheeler brand Vespa has globally unveiled the Vespa 946 Horse Edition, a new limited-run model that joins its ultra-exclusive 946 lineup. Inspired by the Year of the Horse in the Lunar Calendar, the scooter is positioned as a collector-focused offering rather than a mass-market product, continuing Vespa’s tradition of releasing themed special editions under the 946 series.

Visually, the Vespa 946 Horse retains the iconic silhouette of the standard 946 but introduces distinct design elements that underline its equestrian theme. The scooter is finished in a deep bay brown colour, a shade chosen to echo the natural coat of a horse. This is complemented by a mix of matte and gloss finishes on the steel body, along with restrained gold accents that enhance the premium appeal without overwhelming the minimalist design.

Attention to detail remains a defining feature of the Horse Edition. Beneath the seat sits a horseshoe-inspired motif with Vespa’s V-shaped monogram at its centre, directly linking the design to the Lunar Year theme. The seat itself is handcrafted from Italian leather and styled to resemble equestrian saddles, with the same leather treatment extending to the handlebar grips and mirror trims.

Vespa is also offering a curated set of matching accessories for the 946 Horse Edition. These include a rear-mounted leather bag made from the same material as the seat, a lightly tinted windscreen with aluminium mounts, and a specially designed helmet featuring a gold Vespa emblem. Together, these accessories reinforce the scooter’s identity as a luxury lifestyle product.

Mechanically, the Vespa 946 Horse Edition remains unchanged from the standard model, continuing with the familia 125cc singler-cylinder engine and existing braking and suspension hardware. Vespa has not disclosed full market-wise allocation details, but the model will be produced in very limited numbers, with bookings already open in select global markets. Pricing and India-specific availability, if any, are yet to be officially announced.
