Jawa 42 Completes Its Modern Classic Journey With Fresh New Look

New Jawa 42 launched at ₹1.8 lakh with over 60 updates.

Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, operated by Classic Legends Ltd, has unveiled the updated Jawa 42 with more than 60 enhancements, with prices starting at ₹1,79,942 ex-showroom. The latest version of the motorcycle completes Jawa’s current “All Stars” modern-classic lineup, which also comprises the Jawa 42 FJ and Jawa 42 Bobber. The company unveiled the updated motorcycle on Wednesday, September 9, as it looks to strengthen its presence in India’s competitive premium motorcycle market. The Jawa 42 continues to combine a traditional motorcycle design with modern mechanical specifications, retaining the identity that has been associated with the model since its introduction.

The Jawa 42 is powered by a 294.72 cc single-cylinder, four-stroke, liquid-cooled DOHC engine and comes paired with a six-speed constant-mesh gearbox. The engine and transmission combination is aimed at providing the motorcycle with the performance expected from a mid-capacity modern-classic motorcycle while maintaining its established character. The latest model has received more than 60 enhancements, according to the company, although the available announcement does not detail every individual change. The updates are part of Jawa’s broader effort to refine the motorcycle while retaining the core design and mechanical identity of the 42, which remains one of the most recognisable models in the brand’s present portfolio.

The Jawa 42 has a significant place in the company’s modern history in India. The motorcycle marked the beginning of Jawa’s modern-day journey in the country when the brand introduced its modern-classic range in 2018. It was positioned around the idea of bringing classic motorcycle styling together with contemporary engineering and equipment. Since then, the company has expanded its portfolio with additional models aimed at different preferences within the modern-classic category. The updated 42 now represents the latest iteration of the motorcycle that originally helped establish Jawa’s renewed presence in the Indian market.

The completion of the “All Stars” lineup gives Jawa three modern-classic motorcycles covering different approaches to the segment. The Jawa 42 forms the core of the range, while the Jawa 42 FJ and Jawa 42 Bobber offer distinct interpretations of the same broader brand philosophy. The expansion allows the company to address customers looking for different styling and motorcycle formats without moving away from its modern-classic positioning. The 42’s continued presence in the portfolio also reflects the importance of the model to the brand, given that it was the motorcycle through which Jawa began its contemporary journey in India.

The launch comes at a time when the Indian premium motorcycle market has seen increasing competition, with manufacturers offering motorcycles that combine heritage-inspired styling with modern engines, transmissions and features. Modern-classic motorcycles have become an important part of this market as buyers seek products that offer distinctive styling while remaining suitable for contemporary riding requirements. For Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, maintaining and updating established models is therefore an important part of its strategy. The company has continued developing its range under Classic Legends, with the latest Jawa 42 update adding another refreshed product to its existing lineup.

With an ex-showroom starting price of ₹1,79,942, the updated Jawa 42 continues to occupy a position in the mid-capacity modern-classic motorcycle segment. Its 294.72 cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, six-speed gearbox and more than 60 claimed enhancements are the key elements highlighted with the latest version. The motorcycle also carries the legacy of being the model that started Jawa’s modern revival in India in 2018. With the updated 42 now joining the 42 FJ and 42 Bobber as part of the completed “All Stars” range, Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles is looking to build further on the platform that established its modern presence in the Indian market.
