Ducati Launches Exclusive Formula 73 Cafe Racer Limited To 873 Units

Ducati launches the Formula 73 cafe racer, limited to 873 units with retro styling.

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the Formula 73, a limited-edition cafe racer that blends retro styling with modern engineering. The new model revives a historic name from the brand’s racing heritage and is aimed at enthusiasts seeking a collectible, heritage-inspired motorcycle.

The Formula 73 will be produced in a strictly limited run of 873 units for global markets, with each motorcycle featuring a unique numbered plate to emphasise its exclusivity. Ducati positions the model as a tribute to its 1970s racing machines while keeping it aligned with the company’s current air-cooled portfolio.

Powering the motorcycle is an 803cc L-twin engine, a familiar unit in Ducati’s lineup, tuned to deliver the brand’s signature performance and character. While the mechanical platform remains proven, the Formula 73 differentiates itself through bespoke styling cues and heritage-focused detailing.

Design-wise, the cafe racer adopts classic proportions, low-slung ergonomics and retro visual elements intended to evoke Ducati’s vintage competition bikes. The model is expected to appeal particularly to collectors and riders who favour old-school aesthetics combined with modern reliability.

With production capped and demand likely to be strong among brand loyalists, the Formula 73 underscores Ducati’s continued strategy of leveraging its racing legacy to create premium, limited-edition offerings for global enthusiasts.
