WhatsApp iOS Beta Lets Channel Admins Invite Contacts Directly

WhatsApp iOS beta lets channel admins invite up to 64 contacts directly.

WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature aimed at helping channel admins expand their reach on iOS devices. The feature allows admins to share channel invite links directly with their contacts, streamlining the process of gaining followers. Currently, it is available to select users through Apple’s TestFlight beta programme. This move signals WhatsApp’s continued focus on strengthening its Channels feature.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature is being tested in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 25.37.10.74. With this update, channel admins can invite followers directly from the channel information page. The feature is said to be rolling out gradually and is expected to reach more beta testers in the coming days. A wider public release may follow after successful testing.

The new functionality allows admins to select up to 64 contacts at once when sending channel invitations. WhatsApp automatically generates an invitation message, which includes an action button. This button enables recipients to preview the channel and follow it instantly, reducing friction and improving engagement rates.

To prevent spam misuse, WhatsApp reportedly relies on a temporary broadcast list system. As a result, only users who have the admin’s phone number saved in their contacts will receive the invitation. This approach helps maintain user trust while still offering admins a convenient promotional tool.

Notably, this channel invitation feature is not entirely new to WhatsApp. A similar option was previously introduced in an Android beta update, suggesting feature parity across platforms. Bringing it to iOS highlights WhatsApp’s effort to provide a consistent experience for channel creators on both operating systems.

In addition to this update, WhatsApp has been testing several other features. These include expanded advertisements in Status updates, new emojis for quick reactions, and a Peripherals list within the Linked Devices menu. Together, these developments indicate WhatsApp’s broader strategy to enhance engagement and monetization across the app.
