OnePlus has officially confirmed that its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus 15R, will be powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, marking it as the first device to feature this latest flagship chipset. The launch event in India is scheduled for December 17, coinciding with the debut of the OnePlus Pad Go 2 tablet.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip positions the OnePlus 15R within the high-performance mid-flagship range, just below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in the more premium OnePlus 15. This new processor employs Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU with speeds up to 3.8GHz and an advanced Adreno GPU architecture, which claims an 11% boost in graphics performance and significant improvements in web responsiveness and AI processing compared to its predecessor.
Design-wise, the OnePlus 15R adopts a flat metal frame with a refreshed camera housing that resembles the styles on the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus 13 series. The rear setup features a dual-camera arrangement, dropping the telephoto lens seen in earlier models. The device also boasts comprehensive durability certifications, including IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, ensuring robust protection against dust and water.

Additionally, the phone supports a massive 8000mAh battery with 100W wired charging for rapid power replenishment.
