Apple Plans Siri Mode Integration In iPhone Camera With iOS 27 Update

Apple plans Siri mode and advanced Visual Intelligence integration in iPhone Camera with iOS 27 update.

Apple Inc. is reportedly planning a significant artificial intelligence upgrade to its iPhone Camera system with the upcoming iOS 27 release, introducing a new “Siri mode” that will expand how users interact with photography and visual data. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the feature is expected to be integrated directly into the native Camera app as a dedicated mode alongside existing options such as photo, video, and portrait.

The new Siri mode is described as an enhanced version of Apple’s existing Visual Intelligence system. At present, Visual Intelligence is accessible via the Camera Control button and connects users to external AI tools and services, including ChatGPT and Google Image Search. With iOS 27, Apple reportedly plans to bring this capability into the main Camera interface, redesigning it with a new shutter-style button inspired by the Apple Intelligence branding. This shift is intended to make AI-powered tools more visible and easier to access for a wider base of iPhone users.

While Visual Intelligence will continue to remain available through hardware controls like the Camera Control button, Apple’s broader strategy appears focused on deep integration within core apps. By embedding AI functions directly into the Camera app, the company aims to reduce friction in user experience and encourage more frequent use of intelligent features without requiring separate navigation or activation steps.

The upgraded system is expected to introduce several practical AI-driven capabilities. These include the ability to scan nutrition labels on food packaging and automatically log dietary information, as well as extract contact details from business cards and similar documents. The feature may also expand into deeper image analysis, allowing users to ask contextual questions about objects captured through the camera by leveraging integrations with advanced AI systems such as ChatGPT.

In addition, the report suggests that Siri’s interaction with the Camera app will become more advanced, enabling voice-controlled switching between different shooting modes like photo, video, and portrait. This enhancement would further position Siri as a more functional on-device assistant, tightly integrated into everyday smartphone use rather than acting as a standalone voice tool.

Looking ahead, these software developments are expected to be part of Apple’s broader AI strategy ahead of its 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference. The company is also reportedly exploring new Siri-focused hardware concepts, including smart glasses, a wearable pendant-style device, and upgraded AirPods designed to better interpret environmental context. If implemented, these changes could mark one of the most significant AI transformations in the iPhone ecosystem in recent years.
