Vivo S50 Series Launch Set for December: Key Specs, Design, and Features Revealed

Vivo S50 series to launch in China this December with periscope camera and Snapdragon chips.

Vivo has officially confirmed the launch timeline for its upcoming S50 smartphone series, which is set to debut in China this December. The announcement was made quietly through a pre-reservation page on Vivo’s official website, allowing customers to register their interest ahead of the event. The microsite also reveals that Vivo is hosting a lucky draw, offering participants a chance to win a Vivo S50, travel vouchers, and Vivo rewards, hinting at an early promotional push for the new lineup.

According to earlier reports, the Vivo S50 series will succeed the S30 lineup introduced in May this year, featuring at least two models — the base Vivo S50 and the Vivo S50 Pro Mini. The company has not yet disclosed the exact launch date or detailed specifications, though insiders suggest that the announcement could arrive within the coming days. The new devices were recently spotted on the SRRC certification website under model numbers V2527A and V2528A, confirming steady progress toward the official debut.

The Vivo S50 is rumoured to sport a 6.59-inch flat 1.5K OLED display, a sleek metal frame, and a triple rear camera setup with a periscope telephoto lens — a feature typically reserved for flagship models. Powering the device is expected to be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, designed to deliver balanced performance and efficiency. In comparison, the smaller S50 Pro Mini may feature a 6.31-inch flat 1.5K OLED screen, run on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, and pack a sizable 6,000mAh battery, making it one of the most powerful compact smartphones in its class.

Both models are expected to run Vivo’s upcoming OriginOS 6, based on Android 16, providing a refreshed user interface and optimized multitasking capabilities. The combination of upgraded hardware and new software could position the S50 lineup as a strong challenger in the mid-premium smartphone segment. Vivo appears to be targeting both style-conscious users and performance seekers, continuing its trend of blending design aesthetics with competitive specifications.

The Vivo S50’s launch comes at a time when the global smartphone market is seeing renewed competition in midrange performance devices. While official pricing remains undisclosed, industry observers expect Vivo to position the new series strategically to rival Xiaomi, Realme, and Samsung in the same category. With powerful processors, periscope cameras, and premium design elements, the S50 lineup could become one of Vivo’s standout launches of the year.
