Samsung Speeds Up One UI 9 Testing Across Galaxy Devices for July Android 17 Launch
Samsung expands One UI 9 testing across Galaxy devices ahead July rollout.
Samsung is reportedly accelerating the development of its next major software update, One UI 9, which is based on Android 17. According to recent reports, the company has expanded internal testing of the upcoming operating system to a wider range of Galaxy smartphones, foldable devices and tablets ahead of its anticipated stable release. The update is expected to debut in July alongside Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphones, marking the company's latest push to deliver faster software upgrades.
The One UI 9 beta programme is already available for the Galaxy S26 series in selected markets, including India, South Korea, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Reports indicate that Samsung plans to gradually extend testing to additional eligible Galaxy devices over the coming weeks before the stable rollout begins. Users interested in participating in the beta programme can register through the Samsung Members application where the preview is available.
Internal test builds have reportedly been spotted for several premium and mid-range Galaxy smartphones. These include the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy A57, Galaxy A56, Galaxy A34, Galaxy A17 and Galaxy A16. Samsung is also said to be testing the software on upcoming devices such as the unreleased Galaxy A18, indicating that One UI 9 development is progressing across multiple product categories.

Samsung's foldable lineup is also expected to receive the update. Reports suggest internal testing is underway for the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and Galaxy Z Flip 8, in addition to the current Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. On the tablet side, One UI 9 builds have reportedly appeared for the Galaxy Tab S12+, Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S11, Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra.
Rather than introducing a major visual redesign, One UI 9 is expected to focus on refining the overall user experience. Samsung is reportedly working on smoother animations, improved readability, cleaner interface layouts and enhanced system responsiveness. One of the anticipated additions is a new "Tap to Share" feature, which is expected to simplify file transfers between compatible Galaxy devices in a manner similar to Apple's AirDrop.
Although development is progressing rapidly, One UI 9 remains in the early stages of testing, and Samsung could modify, add or remove features before the public beta expands further or the stable version is released. As with previous software updates, the rollout is expected to occur in phases, with flagship devices likely receiving the update first before it becomes available for additional smartphones, foldables and tablets later in the release cycle.
