Poco M8 Power, Poco X8 India Launch Tipped For This Quarter

Poco M8 Power, Poco X8 India launch timeline tipped this quarter.

Poco is reportedly preparing to expand its smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of the Poco M8 Power and Poco X8 later this quarter. According to recent leaks, the upcoming handsets are expected to debut as rebranded versions of the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro, which were introduced in China earlier this month. While Xiaomi has not officially confirmed the devices or their launch schedule, multiple tipsters have indicated that the smartphones could arrive in India within the next few weeks or months.

Tipster Yogesh Brar claimed in a post on X that Poco plans to unveil both smartphones in India during the current quarter. The Poco M8 Power is expected to be based on the Redmi Note 17, while the Poco X8 is tipped to be a rebranded Redmi Note 17 Pro. The leak also suggests that the Indian variants could carry higher price tags than their Redmi counterparts in China, although no official pricing details have been revealed.

Another tipster, Kacper Skrzypek, has shared additional information regarding the Poco X8's camera setup. According to the leak, the Indian variant is expected to feature a 50-megapixel primary rear camera paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor, mirroring the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro. However, reports indicate that global variants of the Redmi Note 17 Pro could replace the depth sensor with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, suggesting regional differences in hardware configurations.

The Poco M8 Power is also expected to closely resemble the Redmi Note 17 in terms of specifications. The Redmi Note 17, launched in China on July 14, is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor and features a 7-inch display, an 8-megapixel front camera, a 50-megapixel rear camera and an 8,000mAh battery. It runs Android 16 and starts at CNY 1,299 (approximately Rs. 18,000) for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant in the Chinese market.

Meanwhile, the Redmi Note 17 Pro, which is expected to be rebranded as the Poco X8, features a 6.83-inch display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset. The smartphone offers a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, up to 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a large 9,000mAh battery. It also ships with Android 16 and is positioned as a higher-end offering in the Redmi Note 17 series.

Although the leaked specifications suggest that Poco's upcoming smartphones will closely mirror their Redmi counterparts, Xiaomi has yet to officially announce the Poco M8 Power or Poco X8 for the Indian market. Until the company confirms the launch, the reported specifications, pricing and release timeline remain based on industry leaks and should be treated as unofficial. More details are expected to emerge as the anticipated launch window approaches.
