OnePlus to Launch ‘Volkswagen’ Smartphone With Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 in India

The upcoming OnePlus phone may debut in India with Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a 165 Hz OLED display, and a 9,000 mAh battery.

OnePlus is reportedly preparing to launch a new mid-premium smartphone codenamed "Volkswagen" for India and global markets, featuring Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. The device, tipped by reliable leaker Abhishek Yadav on X, positions itself as a performance-orientated offering following the recent OnePlus 15R flagship. While official details are pending, the handset is expected to target users seeking high refresh rates and long battery life in a competitive segment. This could mark one of the first devices globally to debut with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, a chip anticipated to bridge the gap between flagship and upper-midrange performance.

Key rumoured specifications include a 6.xx-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a smooth 165 Hz refresh rate, matching the fluidity seen on the OnePlus 15 and 15R. The rear camera setup is said to be dual, focusing on simplicity rather than the triple or quad arrays on higher-end models. A standout feature is the massive 9,000 mAh battery supporting 80 W wired fast charging, promising exceptional endurance for heavy users. These specs suggest a focus on everyday usability, gaming, and media consumption.

The "Volkswagen" codename has sparked speculation that this model may share DNA with a China-exclusive OnePlus Turbo series device or serve as its rebranded global variant. OnePlus has a history of tailoring launches by region, often bringing enhanced versions to India with localised pricing and features. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, built on efficient architecture, is expected to deliver strong AI capabilities, gaming performance, and power management.

With the OnePlus 15 series freshly launched, this new handset could arrive in early 2026 to expand the company's portfolio in the Rs 40,000-50,000 range in India. It aims to compete against rivals like the upcoming Realme GT series or iQOO models, emphasising battery and display prowess.

As leaks continue, enthusiasts await confirmation from OnePlus on the official name, pricing, and exact launch timeline. The "Volkswagen" phone has generated buzz for potentially offering flagship-like battery life at a more accessible price point, reinforcing OnePlus's push into diverse segments.
